ADVANCED DRIVINGAdvanced driving is based on the ‘system of car control' which can be found in the police drivers handbook “Roadcraft”.
This is the standard used in nationally available tests with the Institute of Advanced Motorists and ROSPA Advanced Driver's Association.
The vehicle of the advanced driver should always be in the correct place on the road, travelling at the correct speed with the right gear engaged. This can be achieved by concentration, good observations and the correct anticipation of others actions.
Eco-driving is now becoming more relevant due to heightened awareness of climate change and the high cost of fuel. Techniques used in advanced driving reflect the same ethos as eco-driving and therefore they compliment each other.
The advanced driver will be smooth, safe and inspire confidence in passengers travelling in the vehicle.
